JAPAN WORLD BANK GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2023- Citizens of specified developing countries who have suitable professional experience may apply for the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP). The programme provides funding for a master’s degree in a development-related profession.

The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program allows international students to continue their study in one of 35 participating programmes at institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, and France in essential development fields.

The following countries are eligible for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program for the academic year 2023-2024:

WHAT IS OFFERED?

The JJ/WBGSP offers the following advantages to the recipient:

  • Air travel in economy class between your home country and the host university at the commencement of your study programme and soon after the scholarship period ends. In addition to two-way flight tickets, each scholar will receive a US $500 travel allowance.
  • Tuition for your graduate degree, as well as the cost of basic medical insurance provided by the institution.
  • A monthly subsistence grant to cover all living expenses is provided while on campus throughout the scholarship duration (accommodations, food, etc., including books). The allowance amount varies based on the host nation.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The candidate must fulfil the following qualifying requirements:

  • Be a citizen of a World Bank member country (listed above).
  • Not be a dual national of a developed country.
  • Not be a World Bank employee or a close family.
  • Have an undergraduate degree (or comparable university degree) attained at least three years prior to the application deadline.
  • Have at least three years of paid development-related experience. The sole exemption to this rule is for nationals of developing nations on the list of Fragile and Conflict States (see list below). In these unusual instances, restricted job options in the specified nations will be considered.
  • have been unconditionally admitted to one of the participating master’s programmes on or before the application deadline (listed above)

The candidate must have a degree or experience in one of the following fields:

  • Finance, competition, and innovation are all important factors.

  • Trade, investment, and macroeconomics
  • Reduced poverty and equity/shared prosperity
  • Health, nutrition, and population education
  • Employment and social security

HOW TO APPLY FOR Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship?

Depending on the institution you wish to attend, you can apply during the first application window, which runs from January 16 to February 28, 2023, or the second window, which runs from March 27 to May 26, 2023.

Applicants must have obtained an unconditional admissions offer from a participating institution to be eligible for the Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program. You will not be allowed to participate if you do not.
